David Wilson has impressed scouts during the draft process and could be a late first-round pick.
I’ve confirmed that 25 NFL teams attended Virginia Tech’s Pro Day on Thursday, March 15th. The seven teams that weren’t in attendance were the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.
The top prospect for the Hokies in this year’s draft is 5-foot-10, 206-pound running back David Wilson. Wilson is a borderline first-round draft pick and will likely be a high second-round selection next month. At the Scouting Combine, Wilson had an impressive workout and flashed his attributes to NFL personnel. He ran a 4.49 in the 40, and displayed his explosiveness by generating a 41-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump.
Another highly touted Hokies prospect is cornerback Jayron Hosley. At 5-10, 176 pounds, Hosley is likely to hear his name called in the second-round. Currently, he’s ranked 48th overall on my Top 100 board. He has tremendous playmaking ability, but lacks the size and physicality to be considered a first-round talent. At the Scouting Combine, Hosley ran a 4.47 in the 40.
Other Virginia Tech prospects that will likely hear their name called on draft day are: free safety Eddie Whitley (4th Round), wide receiver Danny Coale (5th – 6th Round) and offensive lineman Jaymes Brooks (6th Round).
